Successful first Cooperative Day13 December 2019
On Thursday 12 December 2019, Cooperative Day took place for the first time at Royal FloraHolland in Naaldwijk, the leading event for members, customers and partners of our cooperative.
We can look back on a successful day with a great deal of knowledge exchange and enjoyable encounters. We were able to welcome over 700 participants who, together, work hard on ensuring a flourishing future for the floriculture sector.
The day kicked off with a talk show featuring sports reporter Hélène Hendriks, Steven van Schilfgaarde, Wim Koolhaas of LKP Plants (Bromelia), Karolien Tesselaar of Tesselaar Alstroemeria and Koen Heyl of Bloemenhandel W.K. Heyl jr. B.V.; During the interview hosted by Hélène Hendriks, Steven van Schilfgaarde was asked exactly what Blooming Future (the theme of the day) he had in mind. He replied that his dream is to achieve a future-proof and successful floriculture sector. This can be achieved by digitising the services of Royal FloraHolland and making them more sustainable. If we, and all the stakeholders, succeed in changing the floriculture sector, the sector can continue to do what it has already successfully been doing for one hundred years. Which is providing beautiful plants and flowers to the world.
The results of the Members' Council elections
The talk show was followed by fascinating themed sessions and activities on subjects including the future of the sector, our cooperative, sustainability and entrepreneurship. The results of the Members' Council elections 2019 were announced during the Members' Meeting later in the day. Marco Keysers, Steef Meewisse and Gerrit Jan Vermöhlen took their places as new members of the Members' Council. Sjaak Buijs, Evert van Helvoort and Jay Williams stepped down as members. Sjaak Buijs and departing Supervisory Board member Emiel Barendse were awarded the golden Royal FloraHolland pin as a thank you for their many years of active contribution.
The day ended with an enjoyable get-together, including snacks, and live music by Dames Draaien Door. We would like to thank all those who attended for coming and making this beautiful day a great success.
