Market figures: Russia on the rise06 February 2018
2018 started well when the turnover in the first weeks rose to 6.8 percent. The total turnover was 300 million euros. The supply was slower, decreasing by 2 percent. The most important reason for the higher sales was the favourable weather conditions.
Floridata's export figures for the whole of 2017 show a growth of 4.6 percent to a total of 6 billion euro. This is a record for our sector! Never have so many flowers and plants been exported from the Netherlands.
Germany loses ground to Russia
With a 29 percent export share, Germany remains the most important export country. It had to lose some ground to Russia, the largest grower with an export share of up to 39 percent. With a 5 percent drop, England experienced the biggest decrease.
Fewer roses and lilies
The turnover of cut flowers increased by more than 3 percent. The supply however dropped by 2 percent. Roses, gerberas and lilies dropped by 7 percent. At present, tulips are the biggest in terms of numbers, but the supply of even these decreased by 2 percent.
Arrangements more popular
The turnover of indoor plants increased by 13 percent, while the supply increased by 5 percent. The supply of hyacinths and narcissus decreased. Arrangements increased with these products. This product group is becoming more popular. The turnover of garden plants increased by 16 percent. This was mostly due to the 15 percent decrease in supply.
