"Reliable growers should be rewarded for their actions"23 February 2017
Lucas Vos says in our relation magazine GROW that he would like to see a new standard in quality in 2017, in which sustainability and consistent behavior is to be rewarded. "What a breeder claims to supply, must be correct. The consistent grower should be rewarded for what he does."
Lucas thinks we should get good feedback from the consumer. "Clients often talk about the quality of our products. Does that concern the quality of information or the product itself? Or was there one specific occasion when the quality was not up to scratch? We're talking about the quality brand that is Holland, so we should take these matters seriously. For they are very important to our market place."
Growers' information should be correct
"A good reputation means there'll be fewer unpleasant surprises. And it also means a client would be willing to pay more for the products. Besides, I think there are some flaws in the current system that clients could (mis)use to their advantage. This only happens on rare occasions, thankfully, but I still want to protect my growers."
Increasing amount of up-to-date photos
Product photos are compulsory for our growers, in all branches of Royal FloraHolland. The amount of up-to-date photos has risen dramatically and is still increasing by the week. At the moment, just 0,5 to 1 per cent of incoming batches lack a photograph, and those lots are therefore put at the end of the queue for auctioning.
How does Lucas feel about this? "This is good, I am thrilled. We worked hard to get this far. We're not quite there yet, but I am confident 100 per cent will be the norm before long. Complete and correct product information is important to our current as well as our future classification system and therefore of huge significance to both our growers and their clients."
