Public holidays spring 2017: auctioning on King's Day, not on Ascension Day25 January 2017
Based on the wishes of both customers and suppliers, we will be auctioning on King's Day and not on Ascension Day in 2017. This applies to all Royal FloraHolland locations, including the florists' clocks at Naaldwijk and Eelde.
The enthusiasm was greater among suppliers and customers to auction on King's Day (27 April 2017) than on Ascension Day (25 May 2017). King's Day falls on a Thursday this year and Mother's Day is two weeks later on 14 May. The prognosis is that the supply volume around King's Day will therefore be higher than around Ascension Day. We expect a busy Friday auction the day after King's Day. Ascension Day is three days before the French Mother's Day (28 May 2017) this year. However, the purchasing peak for that holiday is at the beginning of the week, after all other relevant public holidays.
Auctioning on King's Day this year is a pilot and afterwards, we will extensively evaluate our customers' degree of satisfaction, how many suppliers and customers auctioned or purchased on the day, what the pricing was and how high the costs were.
