Faster processing times: where are we now?02 December 2016
Short processing times are important, but in the past six months the processing times seem to be getting longer and the day is ending later. Royal FloraHolland is aware that these processing times are not meeting your needs, which is why we have implemented improvements in the current distribution process in the past quarter. Here is an update on our progress.
We took the complaints from buyers seriously about the delivery times of transactions. We are working on several options. Have you noticed any difference?
For example, we organised an extra distribution process in Aalsmeer and Naaldwijk, alongside the existing service. The aim is to speed up distribution and deliver the products to you earlier.
What are we doing per location?
At Aalsmeer the distribution process of flowers has been modified. This has led to earlier closing times of 25 to 30 minutes on Mondays and 20 minutes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In the new procedure Aalsmeer processes the whole-trolley (full trolley of products bought by one buyer) and partial-trolley purchases (trolley with products bought by two buyers, so it will require splitting up) separately in an additional distribution area with several more logistical staff.
At the Naaldwijk location, we first got the staff organised. And the setting up of a parallel process for whole-trolley and remainder purchases of flowers has been initiated. This has led to an earlier daily closing time by 15 minutes on average. We are also establishing an extra parallel process for a complete flower clock to increase the processing capacity and shorten the processing times. From March 2017 buyers will notice concrete improvements.
Starting in January 2017 you will receive your products faster and more regularly. How is that possible? We shall use the 'metro-system': the flowers and plants are distributed directly in linked trolleys that depart at set times. This results in you receiving your products more regularly throughout the morning.
Preparations for spring 2017
It seems a long way away, but we are already focussing on the spring of 2017. After all, optimal service provision is essential in that busy time of the year. We would like you to know that we are striving for a maximum processing time of 3 hours after purchase at the clock in Naaldwijk and 2.5 hours in Aalsmeer and Rijnsburg. Because the capacity of the distribution processes at the different locations varies, you may experience a variation in the processing times at these locations.
On the right, you see the prognosis of the closing times. You can also subscribe to an e-mail service supplying these prognoses (only for the Naaldwijk location). Then if there is a 30-minute delay, you will receive an e-mail with the adjusted times.
