Badges, to identify the person before you
The check-in procedure helps make your trade fair visit efficient, explains trade fair coordinator Laura Droomers. Advance registration has been possible for several weeks already. You can still do so at one of the four check-in desks. Once you have checked in, you will be given a badge. The colour of the badge tells you the person's function. Light blue is for exporter/wholesaler, orange for Royal FloraHolland staff, dark green for grower, red for retailer, dark blue for specialist visitor, pink for supplier.
Wouldn't it be fun to buy a plant and shape it into a form of your choice in 13 weeks? That's Yourorchid, urban gardening in a concept created by Ter Laak Orchidee. Sales manager Peter Aalbregt explained, "We had a Meander concept, which involved us forming the plant into a special shape. And we thought: customers will want to and could do that themselves. We seem to be right according to research and a school pilot project we conducted, especially among the young and the elderly target groups." The plant comes in a box, with all the instructions printed on it. The box contains the material you need to train the orchid into a great shape.
Focus on Gerbera: double collective
Lianne van Londen and René van Dijk are presenting Focus on Gerbera at the fair, a merger of two sales collectives of this product. One is devoted to large-bloomed gerberas, one to mini's. "Since March we have joined forces to ensure that buyers can find a complete range at Focus on Gerbera. They are suitable for dealers and the retail channel. The market is getting used to the collaboration, partly because we can deal with bigger orders now and assist buyers better."
LIV in WAX ®: bulbs without water
Narcissus and hyacinths whose bulb and roots have been waxed with a patented method - that is LIV in WAX ®. An unusual product, but also easy to care for because the bulb does not need any water to flower and mature, and the stem remains short and does not shoot upwards. WBD has been working on this concept for a year and a half. "Because we wanted to be sure that it was right," explained Mark Warmerdam. "This is a product for the top of the market, for which we claim perfection. We wanted to fulfil that promise and now that we can, we are showing it off at the Royal FloraHolland Trade Fair. There are other flowering bulbs undergoing the same wax treatment."
Flowers in period rooms
Four period rooms display the four important green trends for 2017, an initiative of Flower Council Holland. They were created by graphic designer Miranda van Renswoude. "I imagined a setting for each room, which emphasises the trends. There are cloths, materials and colours that suit that trend and the associated flowers and plants. For example, the Harmonise period room is all about nature and natural forms. The main colour is green with pink and lilac accents, and the materials are natural. Take a look."
Royal FloraHolland House
Throughout the day there will be inspiring workshops and presentations given by speakers from in and outside the sector in the Royal FloraHolland House.
