Please help us: do not remove fixed shelves from trolleys!05 October 2016
We still witness fixed shelves being removed from trolleys. This is not allowed, it causes problems in the supply chain and involves additional costs.
Each standard trolley has three 'fixed' shelves secured with a cable. If you need fewer shelves, you can lower the fixed shelves. If you need more shelves, use the blue deposit trays. They can be obtained from the packaging depot.
It is not permitted to remove fixed shelves or have loose fixed shelves in your possession (see General Terms and Conditions for Trolleys article 4.f). A sanctions policy applies to these acts. Royal FloraHolland will actively check the proper use of shelves.
Why shouldn't the shelves be removed?
Removing fixed shelves is not permitted because this can cause difficulties in the chain and is associated with additional costs. It can lead to:
- both fixed shelves and the securing cables being severely damaged. They cost a lot to repair.
- trolleys appearing with two or four fixed shelves. This makes the trolley difficult to load and causes trouble further down the chain.
Do not make any adjustments yourself
If you encounter a trolley with too many or too few 'fixed' shelves, put it back in the line or in the buffer. We shall take this trolley to the workplace and repair it. Do not try to fix it yourself!
