Launching Van Gogh's Favorite sunflowers19 August 2016
As a great lover of nature, the master painter Vincent van Gogh was inspired by sunflowers. More than 125 years ago, Van Gogh realised that the flower was not only decorative, it was also a symbol for love and hope around the world.
He left behind fabulous series of flower still-lifes, including ones with sunflowers as the radiant centrepiece. The partnership of Takii and the Van Gogh Museum have created the trademark 'Sunrich - Van Gogh's Favorite' to represent superior quality sunflowers. And from August 22, both consumers and florists can get hold of these masterpieces of the Sunrich sunflower growers.
Growing 'Sunrich' sunflowers with much love and passion results in a product with strong stems and large buds which guarantee a long vase life. Selected sunflower growers from the Netherlands are permitted to use the trademark 'Sunrich - Van Gogh's Favorite' from the breeder Takii. The fresh flowers are sold as 'Sunrich - Van Gogh's Favorite' in a luxurious gift wrapping or are transformed by florists into a bouquet, which includes the recognisable label. The multifunctional packaging with a design drawing on Van Gogh's work was created in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum and can also be used as a vase. Soon everyone will be able to have a flowering Van Gogh masterpiece at home. 'Sunrich - Van Gogh's Favorite' sunflowers are exclusively available in the museum shop of the Van Gogh Museum on the Museumplein in Amsterdam and from high-end florists in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Takii sunflower partner of Van Gogh Museum
Since 2015, Takii has been the official sunflower partner of the Van Gogh Museum. The partnership is a logical step: Takii is known for its 'Sunrich Orange' F1, the world's leading variety of decorative sunflowers, which goes well with the iconic sunflower series painted by Vincent van Gogh.
After the sunflower labyrinth in September 2015, in honour of the opening of the new entrance to the Van Gogh Museum, the partnership has continued with the new trademark 'Sunrich - Van Gogh's Favorite'. Flower wholesaler Bab Star, Royal FloraHolland and the branch association VBW are partners supporting this initiative. This year the trademark 'Sunrich - Van Gogh's Favorite' is being developed and introduced. The official launch is planned for 2017.
