Increasing sales for florists during Peony weekend23 June 2016
As part of the national Peony weeks, nine peony growers were present in the shops of various florists in the Achterhoek region on Saturday, 4 June 2016. With a variety of original actions, the florists and growers realised an average growth in sales of 75%.
The nine florists had sent out an appeal through flyers and publications in the regional magazines to draw as many customers as possible to the shops on this Saturday for a chat with the grower.
Grower Aad Dobbe
At Bloemsierkunst Markerink in Zutphen, the peony grower in attendance was Aad Dobbe (famous from the Farmer Seeks Wife TV programme). Aad attracted many customers to the florist shop, which meant that all of the peonies had sold out by 15:00.
Each participating florist had organised various themed activities to attract customers, aside from the presence of the grower, such as painting peonies and drinking peony tea.
Despite the lovely weather that weekend, the participating florists ultimately realised an average increase in sales of around 75%. This action is part of the Flower Agenda, which is highlighting peonies from week 20 through week 22.
