En route to CC pool quality improvement05 February 2020
The spring peak is approaching and a properly functioning CC pool contributes to the logistical efficiency of the entire floriculture chain. Royal FloraHolland issued an ultimatum to Container Centralen last autumn with regard to the quality of the CC pool. What is the current status of the pool? With Container Centralen’s action programme, a lot of work is being done on quality improvement.
However, broken shelves, the inflow of illegal shelves and fake or defective CC labels are now causing numerous operational problems for both users and Royal FloraHolland. In its October 2019 ultimatum, Royal FloraHolland expressed its concerns about the quality of the CC pool. This led to constructive consultations between both parties and an action programme initiated by Container Centralen to achieve an upward trend in the quality of CC shelves and CC TAG5 labels. Royal FloraHolland will continue to critically monitor this trend in order to achieve the desired and required quality of the pool for the floriculture sector.
Attractive discounts and rates for CC shelves
The starting point is to maintain the basic quality of the CC shelves. In addition to the regular annual replacement when repairing 1.7 million shelves, Container Centralen offers various measures to expand the number of CC shelves under contract.
Avoid defective CC TAG5 labels
Container Centralen will increase the pace of its removal of black and red labels to reduce the risk of a defective CC TAG5. A large number of black labels have already been removed and red labels will follow this spring.
Broad cooperation with scanning partners
In addition, CC Netherlands has taken the initiative with other sector parties, including Royal FloraHolland, to stop the influx of fake labels. Increasingly more sector parties are starting to use scanning in order to increase the chances of identifying users of fake CC TAG5s. More and more technical solutions for scanning are also becoming available.
En route to a better CC pool
Yme Pasma (COO Royal FloraHolland) indicates: "For several months now, we have been seeing that CC Netherlands is taking its responsibility to ensure a high-quality product seriously. As Royal FloraHolland, we are and will remain involved and help wherever possible. Hopefully all users will notice a quality improvement soon. That remains our goal and we will therefore continue to monitor it critically."
