Supply regulation continues and clock presales up to 75%18 March 2020
On Monday 16 March, Royal FloraHolland announced an emergency measure in connection with corona as a result of the high throughput percentages on the auction clocks in recent days. This measure was implemented yesterday and will also be continued for tomorrow's auction (Thursday 19 March).
Supply measures relating to corona for Thursday 19 March:
- Tomorrow, a maximum of 30% of last Thursday's supply volume may be supplied for flowers and indoor plants.
- For garden plants this percentage is set at a maximum of 75%.
- In addition, A2 and B quality flowers and plants may no longer be supplied.
- Products will no longer be auctioned off
Floriday's dashboard provides quick insight into how much you can supply at location level in your specific situation. If in doubt, contact your auctioneer.
Clock supply 18 March
With the clock supply for today, the suppliers of indoor plants and garden plants have largely adhered to the regulations. On the flower clocks, however, the supply percentages were higher than permitted. On the flowers more than the maximum of 30% was supplied (40%). The auctioneers have maintained this more strictly and this will be continued more intensively tomorrow. Of course we understand the need of all suppliers to generate turnover, but now is the time to show solidarity and offer something to everyone.
Pricing is a little less today compared to yesterday. The turn-around in the flowers has decreased slightly. In the case of indoor and garden plants there was more turn-around. For the cut flowers, a supply percentage of 30% must be maintained. Royal FloraHolland therefore calls on all suppliers to comply with the rules of supply regulation.
Clock pre-sale percentage to 75%
In order to give growers more opportunity to sell their clock supply before the start of the auction, the maximum percentage is increased to 75%. This is now available for tomorrow's supply. In any case, we will make sure that this is realised before Friday. Through this possibility we hope that growers can generate more sales. For purchasers on the clock, supply will also remain available. Growers can adjust their percentage in Floriday. If you have any questions, please contact the Floriday support team via 0174 - 352070 or email@example.com.
New supply regulation for next week
In the coming days, we want to further refine the rules where necessary and in close consultation with the auctioneers. Think of the release of selection. In addition, we are preparing a new form of supply regulation that will take effect next week. In this new regulation we want to take more account of the interests of the suppliers who were relatively active in direct sales, because direct sales are largely at a standstill. The new regulation must also be easy to implement and sustainable for a longer period of time. We will inform growers about this as soon as possible.
These supply regulating emergency measures will be reviewed from day to day on the basis of the information we have at our disposal. Royal FloraHolland regrets for growers that this emergency measure currently has to be implemented. In the coming days, we will assess on a daily basis which measures are necessary with regard to the supply and make this known through regular communication channels.
