Starting now, more efficient use of shelves in the trolleys18 October 2017
Many trolley users encounter difficulty with the safety cable tube, which means the topmost shelf holes in some trolleys cannot be used. That is annoying, because we cannot optimally use and load the trolleys in the chain.
Around 40% of our trolleys have a safety cable tube. This safety cable tube prevents the use of the third and fourth shelf hole (seen from the top). Luckily, we have found a solution for this. We replace the security ring of the topmost shelf by a larger (XL) safety hole. This XL-version can slide over the tube so the topmost shelf fits in two holes higher in the trolley. And thus this type of trolley can also be optimally loaded in the chain.
Replacing security ring
Each year we repair 80,000 trolleys in our workplaces in Aalsmeer and Naaldwijk. All trolleys with a safety cable tube that come into the workplace for repair are fitted with a XL-security ring. We have already started replacing the holes and expect that 25% will be completed within a year. It will take a while before all trolleys have a XL-security ring.
Do not remove fixed shelves
The number of trolleys with a small safety hole will gradually decrease, but you may well still encounter some for a while. Please do not remove the fixed shelves from these trolleys! Not only is that not permitted, it causes problems in the chain and is associated with additional costs. The sanctions policy applies to the removal of shelves.
Do you need extra shelves? Then use the blue deposit trays. They are available from the packaging depot.
