Sustainable, healthy future
Sustainability is a boundary condition for a healthy future. Our sustainability mission reads: a future-proof horticultural sector in which flowers and plants are grown and sold with respect for people and the environment. Together with our members, customers and chain partners, we are realising just such a sustainable supply matched to the market.
Chain and sector
Consumers and our customers are demanding more sustainably produced flowers and plants. To meet the complex challenges for our growers, a clear chain-wide approach is needed. This will improve the reputation of flowers and plants. In this chain our growers and their customers are key. We can realise a sustainable supply, matched to the market, together with our members, customers and chain partners.
This platform was established by LTO Glaskracht, VGB and Royal FloraHolland and works together with all important chain partners in the Dutch horticultural sector on solutions for issues that threaten to tarnish the image of the products and the reputation of the sector. The result is a clear approach to sustainability and clear communication about it.
Corporate Social Responsibility
We work with the trade, branch organisations, societal organisations, trade unions and the government to promote international Corporate Social Responsibility (iCSR). This is expressed in the contribution to the creation of the iCSR-covenant for the horticultural sector. We are encouraging as many parties as possible to collaborate and implement the agreements set in this iCSR-covenant.
Floriculture Sustainability Initiative
International market parties and interest groups are working together for a healthy, vital and sustainable horticultural sector. The Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI) aims to have 90% of all flowers and plants sustainably traded and produced by its members by 2020. Dutch Flower Group, Royal FloraHolland, Royal Lemkes and Waterdrinker signed a manifesto at the start of June 2017 to accelerate this process. Now FleuraMetz has also joined this initiative.

The Green Agenda
Greenery improves the quality of the residential, work and living environments. In The Green Agenda programme, knowledge institutions and entrepreneurs develop and test innovative green concepts and revenue models.
Making our business operation more sustainable
The UN Sustainable Development Goals form an important guideline for making our business operation more sustainable. We are actively working on improving our own CO2 footprint and thus reducing the environmental effects on our surroundings. We are also working more with companies that have made an express choice for sustainability. Our purchasing activities have a strategic role, because as a client we can encourage sustainability in chain and sector partners.
